Design (Developing Ideas)

Students combine practical and design skills with knowledge, skills and behaviours from other domains to select and record creative methods of generating and depicting design possibilities and options. They devise a plan to outline the processes involved in making a product, and select and justify the option that best meets the requirements of the design brief.

In Textiles class, students will:
  • brainstorm their ideas – sketches, photos, clippings, notes etc;
  • sketch their ideas on paper, sketching different angles, opened and closed etc, making comments;
  • decide on their final idea, within your known constraints and objectives (time, equipment, skill level);
  • measure their object (eg iPad, laptop, body) and design their product accordingly; and
  • design and produce pattern pieces.
