Investigating (Inquiring and Analysis)
Investigation is the first step once you have your design brief in place. During the investigation process, students identify ideas, problems, needs, wants and opportunities. Students undertake research and investigation to identify the human, material, equipment, and/or energy resources available to meet the idea, problem, need, want or opportunity.

The following Design Specification should be used to write up your investigation process for planning your design and production. This completed document should be submitted for assessment.
In Textiles class, students will:
- read and investigate their design brief;
- undertake class activities to help aid in the investigation process;
- use internet sources: Pinterest, Etsy, Online tutorials and sewing sites, eg: Sewcanshe.com, Tillyandthebuttons.com, Sewingschool.org, Allfreesewing.com, Craftsy.com, Whileshenaps.com, Fishsticksdesigns.com;
- learn about relevant fibres and fabrics that can be used for the design;
- read information: Magazines, Books, Catalogues;
- go window shopping to touch and feel other’s designs and fabric; and
- KEEP A LOG OF ALL YOUR INVESTIGATION! - Notes, photos, clippings, websites etc
