Year Seven Textiles

In year seven, students start their course by completing a brief, but important unit on safety and equipment, and gaining their Sewing Machine Licence. Textiles students learn the basics of textiles and design through the completion of two projects. The first project is the creation of a pincushion where students all follow the same design and instructions to learn basic sewing skills. The second project is their major assessment task, where they design and create their own sustainable shopping bag. This project allows students to develop their knowledge of investigation and design whilst extending their skills in the safe and effective use of equipment.
